Prepare for the Solar Eclipse

Breaking News!

Breaking News! Plan for Monday's 4-minute, 28-second partial solar eclipse.

The Sun is about to perform another disappearing act as it prepares for a total solar eclipse that will run through Mexico, the United States, and Canada, briefly turning Monday's day into night.

In Sarasota, we will experience a partial solar eclipse when the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth and only partially covers the Sun's disk. According to timeanddate.com, the eclipse could be visible in Sarasota, Florida, from 1:42 p.m. to 4:13 p.m. ET, with a maximum viewing at 2:59 p.m.

Protect your eyes from this spectacular event. The American Astronomical Society advises using a solar filter to protect cameras against intense sunlight and heat. Supplies may be limited. Check your local Lowe's or Home Depot.
